Metal Queen Bed Frame – Restoring a bedroom can be a costly endeavor. Interior decoration and design alone can cost several hundred dollars without even considering the price of the furniture. Almost any game decent bed (frame, headboard and footboard) will break the $ 500 mark, and a bed of classic metal can reach thousands. By learning how to make your own metal queen bed frame, you can have the durability of a bed store bought at a fraction of the cost.
1. Decide on the size of the mattress you want the bed to accommodate, then measure your mattress. 2. Cut 2 pieces of angle iron with a hacksaw or plasma torch according to the size of your mattress. Angle iron flat iron bent at an angle of 90 degrees; 1-by-1-inch is an L – shaped piece in which each leg of the L is 1 inch wide. The pieces will be the frame rails of the metal queen bed frame. Ideally, the rails must have the same length as your mattress; add 1 inch if you are afraid that the mattress does not fit properly. 3. Drill holes 2 1/2 inches in diameter on a section of angle iron, 1/2 inch in from either end.
